Message to Michael

Michael, you left us as a hero today,

For God called you home to stay.

My young warrior, my hero, my son,

Engaged in the fight for Iraqi’s freedom.

Saddam’s regime could not have known,

You had children at home.

Christian now seven, and Joshua just two,

Caleb and Taylor, the newborn twins,

Will never get to know you.

Now, as an angel of light,

You have become their guardian tonight,

Watching over them each day and night.

Michael, you left us as a hero today,

For God called you home to stay.

My young warrior, my hero, my son,

Engaged in the fight for Iraqi’s freedom.

When I felt your life near its end,

Tension and worry became an unwanted friend.

The bubble of light I envisioned you in,

Wasn’t enough to shield you with.

Your mission in this life was complete,

Therefore, God brought you home to meet,

Relatives and friends who have gone before,

So they could meet you at the veiled door.

Michael, you left us as a hero today,

For God called you home to stay.

My young warrior, my hero, my son,

Engaged in the fight for Iraqi’s freedom.

My heart heavy with sorrow,

With tears falling into tomorrow.

The emotional pain that ripped through my soul,

Is far greater than you’ll ever know.

The loss I feel, I fear will never heal,

As the memories of you, turn in my mind like a wheel.

Know that my love for you will always remain,

Know that your life was not in vain.

You are honored as an American Hero!
