We Have No Promise
Joyce Porter Hammers
We have no promise in this lifeThere are many
who need to hear itThat secures us a safe journey
Their life here is incompleteHe said he would
be with usUnless we are there and willing
From now until eternityWith our own words and
sung to ourThis faith does sustain us
There is no place to stop itWe live by it day
by dayOur march must go onAs for
hope of a tomorrowThank God those jewels will be waiting
He said, "I am with you all the way"When we
sing our final songSo we give birth to our children
You must show strength to JordanWith love,
hope, and a great planWhose love for them was shared
That they will grow and developHe also lost
abundantlyInto a kind woman or a happy man
He needs to know someone caresIn nurturing
these precious angelsHis life must go on normal
In the rules for a good lifeOr as a teenage
life should beWe also work long hours and study
With that glow he always carriesHow to raise
them with less strifeHe'll soothe your pain, wait and
seeThey experience chicken pox and measles
Yes, I know, I have childrenThose mumps were
no funAnd, yes, I'm also aware
But we grew closer and closerThat no one can take their
placesWhile nursing illness from dark to sun
Not anyone can fill their chairOh, we look at
them so oftenBut all of you can pull together
As we think to ourselvesIn hidden discreet
formHow did I ever deserve this child
And can fill your longingSeems a fantasy just
like - little elvesFor those guys that have gone on
But sometimes these things will happenYou can
help those who are strugglingWe cannot, but do try, to
understandWho try to reach a higher goal
To lose the precious jewelsBy teaching them
the valuesIs like taking a drummer from a band
You taught those darling soulsHow we then
come to realizeNow the fact that your children will be
That our life must go on and onWhen you
someday arriveThat he sent us all for a reason
Should always make you celebrateWe must reach
out and sing our songWhen reminded of those precious
eyes
