The inspiration for Drew and Jeremiah Smith came from angels depicted in a sculpture by Michelangelo.  The composition includes yellow butterflies, the symbol that brings comfort to the Smith family. This is the fifth painting of Drew and Jeremiah, including the two dome works, and a large oil painting that is still in progress. Even though they are similar, each one is a little different and captures slightly different expression.   -- Wayne Taylor

This stained glass window was designed and crafted by Ted Byrd from Williamsburg, Kentucky. Symbols of the lives of these two young brothers comprise the art work.

The McCallie at the top of the stained glass represents The McCallie School where both boys attended boarding school.

The two angels beneath the McCallie represent both Smith boys.

The UK basketball in the lower center of the piece is symbolic of the love these young men had for the University of Kentucky basketball team, NCAA Championship winners in 1996 and 1998.

Yellow butterflies grace both halves of this window. These butterflies are the symbol chosen for Drew and Jeremiah by their parents. "What the caterpillar calls the end of the world ~ The Master calls a Butterfly." –Richard Bach

Drew’s life is symbolized by the ERIN on the right half of the stained glass. Erin Grist was the love of his life.

The saxophone represents Drew’s love of music, especially playing his sax.

The roses represent the flowers placed in remembrance of Drew (red rose) and Jeremiah (yellow rose) at their burial site in the historic Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky.

Jeremiah’s love of music was an integral part of his life. Although his first love was the red drum set pictured on the left of the stained glass, he also played the piano and keyboard.

The red Boogie baseball hat with a black bill was Jeremiah’s favorite hat. He wore it constantly.
